My final project for Photo II is emulating another photographer's work. I chose Richard Avedon, because I love his truthful, unapologetic style. I read a bunch of different sites' biographies of him, and they all mentioned a famous photo he took of Audrey Hepburn, but I never found it.
So I modeled this photo off of what I imagine the photo looks like. It is described as blowing out all of Audrey's face except her striking features; her eyes, her eyebrows, and her mouth, the things that made her face famous. I suspect Audrey's photo was in black and white, but she had dark hair so the contrast was flattering. Mandy has blonde hair, so I left the color partly in, to flatter her striking blue eyes.
Hope you enjoy it, this is the longest description I have ever written, but it should be -- this is my final!
Edit: May 27, cleaned up the remnants of the background that I couldn't see on my laptop.
I have never seen the original photo myself, but I think this one pays a lovely tribute regardless. All the light in this is just beautiful. Leaving the color in for this model is a good choice...I don't believe there would have been enough contrast otherwise. Lovely photo all around!
What a gorgeous photo! Even before reading the description, I thought 'hm, that looks like that photo of Audrey Hepburn.' You really did a great job in paying homage to that photo
